Born
on 25th November 1975, son of Venerable Lama Thubten Kalsang and
Yongdu Wangmo, Tulku Dakpa Rinpoche (also known as Tulku Thubten
Tsondu) was recognized by H.H. Mindrolling Trichen Rinpoche as the
3rd reincarnation of Gegong Rokza Sonam Palge Rinpoche.
At the age of eight he became a monk in Dzogchen Monastery, where
he learnt the basic art of reading and writing in Tibetan and embarked
upon his monastic studies. In 1992, he joined the famous Orgyen
Mindrolling Monastery in Dehra-dun, India and was ordained a
Getshul by H.E. Mindrolling Khenchen Rinpoche. He then entered
Ngagyur Nyingma College, the universtiy of Mindrolling Monastery,
and during his nine years there he thoroughly studied and profoundly
contemplated the 13 Great Canonical Scriptures of the Nyingmapa
School along with their ancillary texts and commentaries.
He received numerous Dharma teachings, empowerments and oral instructions
from H.H. Mindrolling Trichen Rinpoche, whom he revered as his root
lama and tutelary deity. He also received teachings from eminent
lamas such as H.H. Dalai Lama, H.H. Penor Rinpoche, Kyabje Taglung
Tsetrul Rinpoche, Kyabje Trulshik Rinpoche, Kyabje Dzogchen Pema
Kalsang Rinpoche, Kyabje Khenchen Thubten Rinpoche, Kyabje Khenchen
Petse Rinpoche, Kyabje Mindrolling Khenchen Rinpoche. Among the
teachings, initiations, and oral instructions, there were those
of the Kahma (Oral Lineage) and Terma (Spiritual Treasures),
the Nyinthig Tsapo, the Dzodun (The Seven Treasures
of Kunchen Longchen Rabjampa), the Ghuyagarbhatantra, and
the Dam Ngnak Dzod.
In short he has excelled in various fields of general Buddhist studies
and, particularly, those of the Nyingmapa School, and has manifested
all the wonderful qualities of a 'Precious-One'.
Recently Rinpoche has established a Danakosha Nyingmapa community in Finland.
